A firing system for a munition designed to direct fragments in a focused burst has a series of detonators (1) controlled by a firing unit (3). The detonators are of projecting layer type and positioned along the axis (4) of the munition to create firing points that deliver a detonation wave to the main explosive charge (2). The detonators are at least three in number and positioned so that the discharged fragments are fired in a required direction.
