New catalysts for oxidation of mercaptans to disulphides and process for their manufacture. The catalysts consist of at least one metal complex of polyaminoalkylpolycarboxylic acid fixed on active charcoal. The catalysts can be employed, for example, for sweetening petroleum distillates.
