Novel one step synthesis of cobalt (Ⅱ) phtalocyanine-hydrotalcite catalysts for mercaptan oxidation in light oil sweetening

MgAl hydrotalcites containing increasing contents of cobalt (Ⅱ) phtalocyanine were prepared by an improved one-step synthesis. An evolution of both the catalytic effectiveness and the structural and textural properties was observed with the cobalt content. The selected catalyst tested in a pilot modeling the fixed-bed sweetening process shows a very good mercaptan removal confirming that the adequate tuning of basic and oxidizing properties lead to a promising catalyst.
