The invention relates to a method of preparation of a catalyst for the oxidation of mercaptans to disulphides, the catalyst being constituted by a metallic complex acid and ethylene diamine tetra or of one of its salts, fixed on a resin. / p & & p & the process is characterizes in that said complex is prepare by the action of a salt of metal and the ethylene diamine tetra or one of its salts, and in that said complex is directly fixed to a basic anion exchange resin. / p & & p & the catalyst is used, for example, to the softening of the distillates petroleum.
