NEW ANTIBIOTIC SFF2033 SUBSTANCE AND PREPARATION THEREOF

NEW MATERIAL:SF-2033 substance. The characteristics thereof are as follows: white powder having melting point of 147-148 deg.C; specific rotation [alpha]20D=-29.2 deg. (in CH3OH); elemental analysis (weight ratio %): C 50.04, H 6.07, Cl 10.33, O 33.56 (remainder); molecular weight: 1200 + or - 100 (vapor pressure method); slightly soluble in water, hexane and ether; soluble in CHCl3, DMF, ethyl acetate, CH3OH, C2H5OH, acetone and aqueous alkali; poistive to color reactions of KMnO4 and 3% vanilin-sulfuric acid; very unstable in an acidic condition; etc. USE:Antibiotic exhibiting strong activity against Gram-positive bacteria and mycoplasma. PROCESS:The SF-2033 substance is separated from the cultured product of streptosprorangium SP SF-2033 (FERM-P No.4333).
