In a method and arrangement for percussion drilling, the percussive action on the drilling tool is such that this applies a shockwave to the material in which drilling is to take place. This shockwave is generated by means of at least two percussions by the percussion equipment. More particularly, these percussions are exerted in such a way that one percussion comes before the other, but such that the tension b resulting from the second percussion of the drilling tool against the material is obtained before the tension a from the first percussion against the material has ceased.
