The prepn. of 1-(3-mercapto-(2S)-methyl propionyl)-pyrrolidine-(2S)-c arboxylic acid (I) comprises reacting cpd. of formula (II) with ClCOR1 (III) to give cpd. (IV), then reacting (IV) with (V) to give (VI), then reacting (VI) with S = C(NH2)2 (VII) to give (VIII) and hydrolysing (VIII) to give (I). X = Br or Cl, R1 = MeO, EtO or test BuO.
