ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREAn improved top feed arrangement for cooperationwith a lower feed dog of a sewing machine, the lower feeddog cyclically engaging and disengaging the lower surface ofmaterial to be sewn in order to move that lower surfacealong a predetermined path through and past the sewingmachine. The top feed arrangement comprises an upper feeddog carried by an arm that is linked to an oscillatorytake-off from the primary drive means of the sewing machine.The arm is connected to those drive means at one end in apivotal connection and the upper feed dog is carried at theother end of the arm. Biasing means bear against the arm ata location adjacent the upper feed dog. A lifter means,also responsive to the primary drive system of the sewingmachine, periodically moves the upper feed dog in adirection away from the lower feed dog against the force ofthe biasing means. The linkage from the sewing machinedrive to the top feed is housed in a recessed area removedfrom the work and an uncluttered large work area isprovided.
