Mounting device for mounting an optical observation device to a microtome

A mounting device (22) for mounting an optical observation device (24) to a microtome (10) so that an image plane of the observation device (24) is adjustable to a cutting edge (26) of a cutting knife (20) of the microtome. The mounting device (22) comprises a support member (30) which is pivotable about a pivot axis (32) spaced from the cutting edge (26) in orderto adjust the observation device (24) to the cutting edge (26). The mounting device (22) is also slidable linearly in a direction transverse to the pivot axis (32).
