1,2 beta -Methylene-4-androstene- and 4,6-androstadiene-3,17-diones of the general formula I IMAGE in which the dotted line indicates the absence or presence of an additional double bond in position 6,7, are suitable as inhibitors of oestrogen biosynthesis for fertility control and for the treatment of diseases caused by oestrogens.
