The drawing shows an arrangement and design for the rolls (1, 4; 2, 5; 3, 6) of a cross-roll straightening machine. These rolls are arranged in series in mutually opposite pairs in the feed direction (arrow 8) of the material to be straightened (7). Because of the otherwise existing danger of permanent unwanted deformations and increased internal stresses in the tube, sensitive round metallic tubes with a thin wall are straightened only by bending. The surface pressure values on the material to be straightened are reduced by matching the roll arrangement and design to the bending line of the material to be straightened. The guide channel, formed by the bearing rolls (1, 3) and the associated guide rolls (4, 6), for the material to be straightened (7) is swivelled by an angle (alpha) relative to the straight run (40) and the effective lengths (19, 20, 21) of the rolls (5, 1, 3) are matched to the straightening forces. The bending roll (5) is of longer design than the bearing rolls (1 and 3). Guide bevels (22) are provided on individual straightening rolls (3) in order to bring the material to be straightened (7) onto the more highly curved path.
