In order to obtain on a parallelepipedal concrete paving stone at least one highly stressable surface side, without having to construct the concrete paving stone from two layers of different concrete mixes, it is proposed to carry out the manufacturing arrangement of the blanks rotated by 90 DEG in relation to the use arrangement of the concrete paving stones arising therefrom in such a manner that highly stressable surface sides are formed by side walls of the cavities which as moulds receive the concrete mix. The parallelepipedal side defined by the pressure ram is in the installed state of the concrete paving stones covered by the respective neighbouring stone so that any damage, which may arise on the upward stroke of the ram, cannot be seen. To improve the surface quality, the concrete mix can have a water content which is higher in relation to conventional mixes without the adhesive action of parts of the blank on the ram having a negative effect on the wear resistance and the appearance of the laid concrete paving stones.
