A process for fastening blocks on one another (as an alternative to mortar) and a corresponding fastening means. Grooves are provided in the surfaces which come to rest against other blocks during construction work. The blocks are arranged such that there results, in each horizontal interface, a band joint groove which passes over all the blocks in one layer and into which the elongate fastening means can be introduced. The blocks to be placed onto the horizontal interface have a corresponding groove on the underside. Grooves, in which there are seated fastening means which connect together the horizontal fastening means located one above the other, are likewise provided in the vertical abutment surfaces. The vertical and horizontal fastening means are designed as elongate strips which exhibit protrusions, engaging one into the other, as retaining or connecting members. IMAGE
