Training ground test allowing evaluation in sportsmen of the maximum oxygen consumption (or VO2 max.), the anaerobic and aerobic thresholds, a cardiac recovery curve and a fitness level index
Training ground test allowing evaluation in sportsmen of the maximum oxygen consumption (or VO2 max.), the anaerobic and aerobic thresholds, a cardiac recovery curve and a fitness level index
Training ground test allowing evaluation in sportsmen of: the maximum oxygen consumption, also called VO2 max. or maximum aerobic capacity; the anaerobic threshold or lactic acid accumulation threshold, or zone of transition between the aerobic and anaerobic systems; the aerobic threshold or efficient training threshold; the cardiac recovery curve; and a fitness level index. The invention enables all these parameters to be assembled in the same test, which has hitherto not been done. The test consists of successive and increasing exertion plateaux with measurements of the speeds of movement and cardiac rates and also a sampling of blood lactates at each plateau. The parameters collected are transferred to a diagram 1 which is designed to allow the speed/cardiac rate curve and the speed/lactate curve to be drawn. At the bottom of the diagram, a correspondence scale relates the speeds and the oxygen consumptions. The speed obtained at the last plateau of the test correspondingly gives the maximum oxygen consumption (or VO2 max.) of the subject. The anaerobic and aerobic thresholds are evaluated, on the one hand in % of VO2 max. (% statistically fixed by value level 5); on the other hand, in cardiac rate, with respect to the maximum cardiac rate of the subject (statistically by value level 5). A cardiac recovery curve is made 2 by measuring the cardiac rates at the end of the test, every 30 seconds for 5 minutes. A table 3 allows its interpretation. Finally, the speed and maximum cardiac rate parameters, measured at the last exertion plateau, allow calculation of a fitness level index by the formula: Speed m/min at the last plateau DIVIDED % of cardiac rate x constant number. Theoretical maximum (220 minus age) reached by the HR at the last plateau. The constant number is 57 for 1500 m; 60 for 2000 m; 62.5 for 3000 m. An interpretation grid 4 allows the level and progress of the subject to be evaluated by sex and age.
