PREVENTION OF PUTREFACTION OF LIQUID SUCH AS WATER-SOLUBLE WORKING OIL, WATER OR THE LIKE

PURPOSE:To prevent putrefaction of the titled liquid, by containing a germicide obtained by ion exchange of the absorbent with a metal in an apparatus body, passing a liquid, e.g. water-soluble working oil, water, etc., for preventing putrefaction therethrough and flowing out metal ions from the apparatus body into the liquid by an adequate amount for a long period. CONSTITUTION:Two or more germicides 2 obtained by ion exchange of an absorbent 1, e.g. zeolite, active carbon, etc., with different germicidal metal ions, e.g. silver, copper, etc., are contained in an apparatus body 3 and a water- soluble working oil used for cooling or lubricating grinding machines, numerically controlled machine tools, etc., or a liquid 4 for preventing putrefaction of water, e.g. water used in cooling towers, water in pools, etc., is passed through the apparatus body 3 to prevent the putrefaction of the liquid by eluting metal ions from the germicides 2 in the apparatus body 3 into the liquid. EFFECT:Not only germs in the liquid are sterilized by antimicrobial and bacteriostatic action of the metal but also the propagation of various germs is suppressed. Thereby the putrefaction of the liquid can be suppressed and prevented.
