PURPOSE:To obtain a resol foam having improved water absorbing and retaining property, by using an anionic surfactant consisting essentially of an alkylsulfonate, etc. and a silicone oil surfactant consisting essentially of a polyalkylene siloxane, etc. together as a foam stabilizer. CONSTITUTION:A resin composition prepared by mixing a resol phenolic resin percondensate (a condensation product of a phenol with foamaldehyde) with a foam stabilizer of 100pts.wt. anionic surfactant consisting essentially of an alkyl (benzene or naphthalene)sulfonate and 30-300pts.wt. silicone oil surfactant consisting essentially of a compound selected from a siloxane-oxyalkylene block copolymer and a polyalkylsiloxane, a foaming agent, e.g. carbon tetrachloride, and a curing agent, e.g. hydrochloric acid, is injected into a mold, expanded and cured to give the aimed resol foam. USE:Useful as frogs in flower arrangement, nursery beds for cultivating plants and soil amending materials, etc.
