Prepn. of specific medium for tetanus toxin prodn.

A specific culture medium for prodn. of tetranus toxin, using a specific peptone, is made by (a) the joint action of 37% HCl and a pepsin free from blood group A, in amount of 10,000 IU enzymatic activity per kg. ground bovine meat, at 52-55 deg.C for 24 hours; (b) heat treatment at 80 deg.C; (c) filtration, adjusting to pH 3.4-4 and sterilising; (d) mixing the meat broth with 50% of the previous soln.; (e) addn. of NaCl cavadura extract and 10% NaOH, and stirring until dissolved; (f) addn. of water and adjusting to pH 5.85-5.95; (g) heating the medium to 80 deg.C, clarification, sterilisation and cooling; and (h) addn. of sterilised dextrose soln..
