1. An electrostatic high-voltage electrode for ionizing the air, having a multiplicity of needle-shaped individual electrodes (9) which are arranged in a plurality of like rows (6, 7, 8) and which each have a point (10), all the individual electrodes (9) being alike in construction and extending parallel to one another and their points (10) lying in one plane, and furthermore the individual electrodes (9) have a distance apart which is at least equal to half their free length (13), characterized in that the free length (13) of the individual electrodes (9) is in the ratio of at least 50:1 to their diameter, and that situated opposite the individual electrodes in the one row are the gaps between the individual electrodes of the adjacent rows.
