MULTIPLE MEASUREMENT NOISE REDUCING SYSTEM USING SPACE-VARIANT FILTERS

ABSTRACTExtraneous signals or artifacts are reduced in a multiplemeasurement noise reducing system such as an x-ray imagingsystem by processing a plurality of measurements to obtaina first image signal of an object representing a desiredparameter such as a blood vessel, processing the pluralityof measurements to provide a second image signal havingincreased signal-to-noise, low pass filtering the firstimage signal, high pass filtering the second image signal,and then combining the two filtered signals. The filterfrequencies are varied in response to the presence of arti-facts to minimize effects of the artifact on the combinedsignal.
