DEBRIS COLLECTION SYSTEM FOR STREET SWEEPERS

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA street sweeper has floating support apparatusfor supporting both a pick up broom and a pair oflaterally and forwardly disposed gutter brushes beneath asweeper framework and for providing controlled broom andbrush pressures on the surface being swept. A ballbushing and vertical shaft provide gutter brush suspensionand spherical bearings and support arms provide pick-uproom suspension. The gutter brushes and pick-up broom aredirectly driven by hydraulic motors mounted on theirrespective suspension structures. Debris is directedinwardly on the swept surface by the gutter brushes towardthe path of the pick-up broom. Laterally disposed dirtshoes lie adjacent the ends of the pick-up broom toprevent debris from flowing around the ends of the broom,whereby debris is further guided inwardly toward thepick-up broom for propulsion toward an elevator fortransfer into a framework mounted debris hopper.
