In the mercerizing process, the waste sodium hydroxide containing Na in the amount of 0.59-1.20% and being discharged from washing means (32) absorbs more NaOH in the sequential spray stages at the steam separator (10) of the extracting apparatus (30) and increases the Na concentration to 4.50-5.20% and is supplied via a 3rd steam separator (13) to a deposit bath (6), from which the cottom fabric with the deposition of NaOH with the 19.65% Na content passes through the extracting apparatus (30)for the 4th steam separator (14) to extract the waste NaOH with the 6.58-8.07% Na content.
