For the purpose of taking into account the particular conditions of unevenness of road surfaces, for the appropriate influencing of chassis parameters a signal for the undulation (w) is generated from vertical acceleration signals (x(t)), in that the acceleration signals (x(t)) are fed to two narrow-band filters (1, 2) tuned to different frequencies, and the ratio of long-wave and short-wave unevennesses in the road surface is registered from the output signals (B1, B2) of said narrow-band filters.
