PURPOSE:To obviate application of oscillation to a measuring instrument and to eliminate measurement errors by moving the measuring instrument by an instrument holder to a potential difference measuring part and bringing a measuring probe into contact with an ion selective electrode cooperatively with said movement and making measurement. CONSTITUTION:The slide of the measuring instrument contg. the ion selective electrode is mounted to a liquid contact part 30A of the measuring instrument holder 42. The holder 42 is moved toward an arrow A to transfer the slide to the potential difference measuring part 30B. A probe holder 61 is provided under the measuring part 30B and the probe for measuring the potential difference is provided in the holder 61 and is made movable upward and downward. After a reference liquid and sample liquid are spotted to the ion selective electrode of the slide, the holder 42 is moved to mount the slide to the measuring part 30B. The probe for measuring the potential difference is thereafter moved upward and is brought into contact with the ion selective electrode, by which the measurement is made. The slide of the measuring instrument is moved by the measuring instrument holder to obviate the application of the oscillation to the measuring instrument and therefore, the exact measurement is made automatically without errors.
