Machine for moulding and baking prods. made of food paste, esp. dough comprises a horizontal, power-driven turntable. A set of cooking moulds is fixed to the turntable. The moulds are regularly spaced around a pitch circle coaxial with the turntable. Each mould comprises top and bottom plates hinged together so as to open towards the circumferential edge of the turntable. The machine comprises a mechanism for automatically opening and closing each mould in turn as well as a synchronised distributor to load a measure of paste into an open mould. Mould opening is pref. effected by a lifting cam engaging a follower roller on the top plate of each mould in turn. Used esp. for eucharistic bread for the host, and also waffles, pancakes, gaufres etc. Increased mechanisation of the moulding and baking reduces manual involvement and reduces prodn. costs. Less dough is wasted than previously when smaller moulds had to be used and more offcuts resulted. The machine is robust and requires little maintenance.
