Process and apparatus for the treatment of chlorine-containing effluents originating from the incineration of household waste. The plant is characterised in that it comprises, essentially, a furnace 1 for incinerating household waste, the flue gases from which feed a boiler 3 and emerge into a reactor 5 fed by a reactant silo 6, a filter 11 connected to the reactor 5 for separating the solids from the flue gases, and a heat-recovery device 14 through which the flue gases pass under the effect of a fan 13 in order to be discharged into the atmosphere via a stack 28.
