The present invention concerns a method for securing slab- shaped building elements 1, such as gypsum or fibre boards, to a wall, a roof or similar support 2 on top of insulating material 3, which covers the said support. The invention permits, among other things, simple and rapid mounting without the need for preliminary treatment of the building elements or exact fitting of these in position before they are secured, and it also reduces thermal bridges. Rail-shaped mounting elements 4 are first secured on the said insulating material 3 by means of screws or similar securing elements 5 which reach as far as the support 2. The building elements 1 in question are then connected, at any desired position along the said mounting elements 4, directly to the said mounting elements 4 via screws or similar securing elements 10 which reach as far as the mounting element 4.
