ABSTRACTA mechanical vibration-tolerant whip antennahaving, in combination, a multi-section conical metal tubehaving successive sections each joined by an internalrigid rod lightly fitting within a corresponding recess inthe respective ends of each of the adjacent sections to bejoined with the outer metal surfaces of the successivesections providing a continuous smooth external metal sur-face transition, and each rigid rod extending sufficientlyabove and below a node of mechanical vibration resonanceto provide rigid support to the node. Additional vibra-tion-tolerance is achieved by vibration damper insertsdisposed within the tube near each node of resonance todamp vibration of the tube.
