Solns. contg. 0.5-1.5 wt.% 2,4,4'-trichloro-2'-hydroxy-diphenyl ether (I), 40-50 wt.% ethanol, 20-30 wt.% isopropanol and the remainder water are used to disinfect the hands before putting on operating gloves. The residual bacterial count is very much reduced compared with known solns.
