The instruction and training times of service personnel and sportsmen firing on firing ranges with weapons and live ammunition are generally very short. Practice firing which is carried out by way of a substitute using practice ammunition for target practices provide no control of the firing performance of those firing. The firing simulator according to the invention creates a remedy for this. It consists of a weapon mock-up, in the case of which the barrel is replaced by a light source and focusing optics, and of an electronic target arrangement. The latter has a target with a plurality of indicating elements which are used for indicating the hit point of the light beams which are emitted from the light source of the weapon mock-up. The arrangement furthermore comprises a control circuit. Each of the indicating elements is associated with a specific location on the target and, for its part, consists of a photoreceptor and a photoemitter. When the lightbeam strikes one of the photoreceptors, the associated photoemitter is energised (excited) by the control circuit.
