Device for simplifying construction of numerically controlled front-operated lathes. The invention relates to a device making the spindle-carrying headstocks movable to provide the displacements in the direction of the X axis and to allow this moving headstock to offer up the workpieces in front of the operator or the loading and unloading stations, and to eliminate the use of cross slides, as well as to allow a single tool-carrying saddle on the Z axis to serve two moving headstocks on the same X axis for machining identical pieces. It consists of a tool-carrying saddle 3 on the Z axis, serving two moving headstocks 1 and 1 bis in a working position on one and the same X axis.
