PURPOSE:To retard the yellowing of the flower bud of lead vegetables, to prevent the melting of stalk and the cut end of stalk and to keep the freshness of leaf vegetables over a long period, by using a freshness-keeping material consisting of an odor-absorption sheet composed mainly of sepiolite. CONSTITUTION:An odor-absorbing sheet material used in the present invention is composed mainly of sepiolite preferably having an amorphous part, optionally contains cellulose fiber and further an organic binder and has a thickness of preferably about 0.01-5mm. The sheet material is put together with leaf vegetables into a packaging bag made of a plastic film, the bag is sealed in hermetic or semi-hermetic state and the leaf vegetables are stored in refrigerated state or at a low temperature.
