METHOD FOR CULTIVATING BRACHIONUS PLICATILIS O.F. MULLER

PURPOSE:To economically cultivate the titled Brachionus plicatilis O.F. Muller of good quality suitable as a feed of the initial period for larval fishes, by carrying out propagation using a specified amount of chlorella which is the feed and specific density in the culture fluid. CONSTITUTION:Eggs of a sterilized Brachionus plicatilis O.F. Muller are introduced into a germ-free culture fluid, preferably at 10-50eggs/ml culture fluid and then sterile chlorella obtained by, e.g. a tank cultivation method, is administered while aerating sterilized air or oxygen and regulating the amount so as to provide 1.0/day specific propagation rate and density in the culture fluid to carry out propagation until the number of individuals attains 2000worms/ ml culture fluid and afford the aimed Brachionus plicatilis O.F. Muller.
