AUTOMATIC OPTICAL POSITIONING PUNCH AND METHOD OF PUNCHING HOLE AT ACCURATE POSITION OF SHEET MATERIAL AUTOMATICALLY

PURPOSE: To punch out a prescribed hole pattern at correct positions on a sheet material by automatically positioning the sheet material in response to the intensity of light detected by a photodetector. CONSTITUTION: Each sheet material has three reference marks 10. The two reference marks 10a and 10b among the three standard marks are arranged in a first direction, and the third standard mark 10c is arranged in a second direction vertical to the first direction. During sheet material transfer in a punching chamber, each of three photosensors 146 in a punch continuously generates signals in response to the detected light intensity, and a controller 200 detects whether the three reference marks 10 are suitably arranged for the photosensor 146. After the signals generated by the photosensors 146 are measured and that a motor 76 is correctly driven, the controller 200 checks and judges whether all the standard marks are correctly arranged.
