PURPOSE:To prepare a high-molecular metal complex which is useful as paramagnetic materials, by introducing a metal-contg. porphyrin (derivative), in which an org. compd. having an atom capable of coordination with a central metal is an unsubstd. compd., into the main chain of the polymer via an ester group. CONSTITUTION:The title product is a high-molecular metal complex obtd. by introducing a metal-contg. porphyrin and/or a derivative thereof, in which an org. compd. residue having an atom capable of coordination with a central metal is an unsubstd. compd., into the main chain of the polymer via an ester group. For example, it is a high-molecular metal complex having recurring units of the formula as shown (where R is H or CH3; PM is a metal-contg. porphyrin residue or metal-contg. porphyrin derivative residue) in a molecule. This complex is produced by using an unsubstd. org. compd. residue having an atom capable of coordination with a central metal, reacting the metal-contg. porphyrin (derivative) having an atom capable of coordination with a central metal with an acrylic compd. to form a polymerizable monomer which is to be bonded to said metal-contg. porphyrin (derivative), and polymerizing said monomer.
