DIGITAL SWITCHING SYSTEM WITHTWO-DIRECTIONAL ADDRESSING RAMSABSTRACTA digital switching system is described for providingtime division multiplexed digital communication ofparallel sequential signals of N words each of M bitlength between N telephone data subscribers over Ntransmission lines in which an array of orthogonal RAMmemory devices provide parallel-to-serial conversion andmultiplexing of the N words each of M bit length toprovide a time division multiplexed serial digital bitstream of M words, each N bits in length, which aretransmitted over a transmission line to aserial-to-parallel converter and coupled to a secondorthogonal RAM memory device in which the N words M bitsin length from the serial-to-parallel converter are storedand coupled to N telephone data subscribers over thetransmission lines.
