TITLEREPEATED ELICITOR TREATMENT, A METHOD FOR SEMICONTINUOUSMETABOLITE PRODUCTION BY PLANT CELLS CULTURED IN VITROABSTRACT OF DISCLOSUREIt has been found that plant cells do not need to betransferred from growth medium to production medium for theproduction of phytochemicals when treated with elicitors. It hasfurther been found that the phytochemicals appear in the medium inquantities which allow for (a) extraction of the phytochemicals fromthe medium rather than the cells and, (b) repeated elicitortreatments of such plant cells with consequent reduction in the timeneeded to produce comparable quantities of such phytochemicals.These findings have allowed new, simple batch and semi-continuousmethods for the production of such phytochemicals be developed.
