Apparatus for bringing together under tension the two ends (1) of a broad belt (2) characterised in that it comprises two straps (4) each comprising a longitudinal receptacle (5), each strap (4) being attachable near the ends (1) of the belt (2) in such a way that the receptacles (5) are parallel to said ends (1), each receptacle (5) being equipped with inflatable and deformable means (6) pressing against which are profiles (7), the profiles (7) of both straps (4) pressing against the two vertical arms (9) of callipers (8) in such a way as to tend to push them apart so that when the inflatable means (6) are inflated the two ends (1) of the belt (2) are brought together.
