PURPOSE:To prevent coating of powder from being pushed aside with ascendant flow and to restrain reoxidation of molten steel by arranging a projecting part along longitudinal direction in inner wall of a tundish and guiding the ascending flow of the poured molten metal toward horizontal direction. CONSTITUTION:By coating the surface of the molten metal 1 poured into the tundish (T/D) 4 from a ladle with the powder 5, the reoxidation of the molten metal 1 is prevented. Then, the projecting part 11 is arranged at the position just below the level of the stationary surface of the poured molten metal 1 along the longitudinal direction of the inner wall of the T/D 4. The descendent flow of the molten metal 1 poured through a long nozzle 3 collides to the bottom part of the T/D 4 and becomes the ascendant flow along the inner wall. This ascendant flow is guided toward the horizontal direction with the projecting part 11. Therefore, without exposing the molten metal 1 to the air caused by being pushing the powder 5 aside with the ascendant flow of the molten metal 1, the reoxidation can be effectively prevented.
