PURPOSE: To provide a composition for tundish flux that maintains temperature inside tundish to a proper level by the end of casting and prevents temperature drop and reoxidation of molten steel according to the passage of casting time by injecting an optimum quantity of tundish flux onto the surface of molten steel in the early stage of casting. CONSTITUTION: The composition for tundish flux comprises 55 to 80 wt.% of granular SiO2; 7 to 27 wt.% of Al2O3; 1 to 5 wt.% of Fe2O3; 1 to 5 wt.% of CaO; and 1 to 3 wt.% of water, wherein the tundish flux has a composition comprising granular SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and CaO and has a grain size of about 2 to 12m/m 85% Min, and wherein the tundish flux is prepared in a shape of granules in which moisture content is suppressed to the utmost, and the granules are broken down simultaneously when they are contacted with molten steel to cover the surface of molten steel in a powder shape so that dust is not generated at all, and a heat reserving effect of molten steel is improved.
