DEVICE AND METHOD FOR VISUALIZING MATERIAL STAIN OF THIN LAYER CHROMATOGRAM

PURPOSE: To uniformly bring a reagent for visualizing stain of material into contact with the entire surface of a stationary phase without requiring a large amount of the reagent by providing foil containing the reagent. CONSTITUTION: Thermoplastic foil 11 contains a uniformly distributed reagent 12 for visualizing stain of material. At the time of using the foil 11, the foil 11 is expanded and set on a dried thin-layer plate and the complex of the thinlayer plate and foil 11 is heated. The thin-layer plate is composed of a carrier plate 15 or carrier foil for a stationary layer 14 and for providing a stationary phase. The foil 11 is combined with the stationary phase 15 by melting or heating the foil 11 and the reagent 12 contained in the foil 11 reaches the stain of a material in the stationary phase 15 by diffusion. Therefore, the reagent 12 can be uniformly brought into contact with the entire surface of the stationary phase 15 without any toxic or corrosive spray.
