DEVICE FOR PLUGGING MOLTEN METAL TAPPING HOLE AT FURNACE BOTTOM IN MOLTEN METAL REFINING FURNACE

PURPOSE:To constitute the present plugging device of molten metal tapping hole at furnace bottom, which can rapidly and surely pack a sand-like plugging material into the molten metal tapping hole, by supplying the sand-like plugging material stored in a hopper installed on the furnace into the molten metal tapping hole at the furnace bottom through a pipe arranging at top blowing lance center part for blowing hanged down in the furnace. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal hole 12 at the furnace bottom 11 is held to the closed condition with an open/close gate 3 through a link 4 by working a cylinder 16. Then, the sand-like plugging material 5 in the hopper 8 is discharged by driving a rotary-type discharging device 13 and introduced into a sand-like plugging material supplying pipe 7 vertically penetrating the center part of the top blowing lance 6 for refining through a flexible hose 14 and supplied from end part of the pipe 7 until the molten metal tapping hole 12 becomes full. In this case, as the pipe 7 is positioned at just above the molten metal tapping hole 12, the plugging material 5 can be surely supplied into the molten metal supplying hole 12 and also can be rapidly supplied by adjusting the discharging quantity of the discharging device 13.
