Device for holding the at least pivotable casement or leaf (1) of a window, door, or the like in an open position, with at least one opening arm (13), which is rotatably hinged on the casement or leaf and is rotatably and slidably mounted on the fixed frame (2), and with a locking device (9), which automatically engages when the casement or leaf (1) is open at a predetermined angle, for the end (12), on the fixed frame side, of the opening arm (13), a bearing bolt (14) for the opening arm (13) being mounted rotatably and such that it can slide longitudinally in a guide slot (10) of the fixed frame (2) or of a member (4) rigidly connected thereto, and there being located in the end region of the guide slot (10), with which the bearing bolt (14) is associated when the casement or leaf (1) is in the end position of the rotational opening, a locking member (8), which is held in its locking position by spring tension (22), can be inclined transverse to the longitudinal direction of the guide slot (10) against the spring tension and past which, in the inclined position of the locking member (8), the bearing bolt can be moved, and the bearing bolt, which is moved past, being retained by the locking position end of the guide slot (10) and the locking member (8) in the sliding direction, in addition, the locking member (8) comprising a first run-up edge (21), for the bearing bolt (14), which extends inclined with respect to the longitudinal direction of the guide slot (10) and by means of which it can be transferred to an unlocked position, characterised in that the locking member (8) is mounted such that it is displaceable against the resistance at least of one return spring (22) and comprises a support edge (28) extending approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the guide slot (10) to hold the bearing bolt (14) such that it cannot move, which support edge (28) lies opposite the locking position end of the guide slot (10) when the locking member (8) is in the locked position, and is at a distance therefrom corresponding approximately to the thickness of the bearing bolt (14).
