PREPARATION OF IMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVES

Compounds are provided herein of the Formula: IMG in which R1 is H, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkenyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms, OCH3 or OCH2CH3; R3 is H, CH3, CH2CH3, OCH3 or Hal and R4 is H, CH3, CH2CH3, OCH3 or Hal, and Hal is halogen. These compounds are intermediates used for the preparation of novel compounds which exhibit valuable pharmacological activity and are useful, especially as selective .alpha.2 receptor antagonists.
