A process for the production of color photographic images by development of an exposed recording material containing silver halide in a development bath containing at least one p-phenylendiamine, characterized in that a recording material in which at least 40 mol-% of the silver halide consists of silver chloride is used and in that replenishing chemicals are added to the developer bath during development in only such a quantity that no overflow is created.
