A gas discharge display panel includes first and second substrates and respective pluralities of elongate display electrodes formed on the first and second structures. Each plurality of the display electrodes being arranged transversely across a display area is coated with an insulating layer. The respective pluralities of display electrodes on the first and second substrates are arranged so as to cross each other with a gap therebetween, and the plurality of display electrodes on at least the first substrate are grouped into a plurality of display electrode groups of equal size.
