An apparatus for flue gas treatment is described which permits afterburning of hydrocarbon- and soot particle-laden gas streams, by feeding gas or energy by assigned electrical heating elements, in a cylindrical combustion chamber, which gas streams pass a link head (23) and which flow through the combustion chamber induced into a cyclone of meander-like radial flow. Catalytic processes take place as a result of baffle plates composed of stainless steel alloys. The link head (23) is provided with rotating chain-like movable links which extend on operation as a result of centrifugal force and, at a standstill, lie on the baseplate as a result of gravity.
