Accelerated stabilization of flue gas from waste incinerators, comprises introducing a flammable, non-oxidic iron compound along with an oxygen-rich gas stream into a flue gas, oxidizing the iron compound, disrupting the structure of the iron compound to form gaseous oxidation products, preferably iron oxide particles with high intrinsic temperature, dispersing the nascent iron oxide particles evenly in the entire volume of the flue gas and stabilizing the incompletely reacted flue gas portions by contacting with the surface of iron oxide particles. Accelerated stabilization of flue gas from waste incinerators, comprises introducing a flammable, non-oxidic iron compound along with an oxygen-rich gas stream into a flue gas, oxidizing the iron compound under an exothermic reaction in the presence of surplus oxygen, disrupting the structure of the iron compound to form gaseous oxidation products, preferably iron oxide particles with high intrinsic temperature, dispersing the nascent iron oxide particles evenly in the entire volume of the flue gas and stabilizing the incompletely reacted flue gas portions by contacting with the surface of iron oxide particles.
