The shoe has a plate fixed on the sole to detachably fix onto a bike pedal which is provided with a coupling and release mechanism. At least one support element (3) is attached in the area between the plate (2) and the toe cap whereby the surface (5) of the support element remote from the sole (4) is placed at least substantially in the imaginary extension of the plate surface which acts as the tread surface. The support element (3) can be an integral part of the sole or designed as a separate part to be connected by screws, adhesive or the like. USE/ADVANTAGE - The plate on the sole of a shoe engages with a bicycle pedal is substantially protected from damage when walking and walking comfort is not impaired.
