PURPOSE: To measure the concentration of valproic acid easily and quickly with high reproducibility by mixing a sample of physiologic liquid, especially an antibody produced in response to a specific polyamide acid, with a specific enzyme conjugate and then measuring the oxygen activity thereof. CONSTITUTION: In the general formula, R is an alkylane group of 1-6C, m is 0 or 1, n is 1 or above, and Z is a number of 1/500 of molecular weight or less. Z is polyamino acid or enzyme, W is methylene bonded with amino group when m is 0 and forms an amino bond through a bond of Z to amino group when m is 1. A conjugate of polyamide acid and enzyme is mixed with a physiologic liquid sample and the enzyme activity thereof is determined with reference to enzyme activity of an analyte containing a known quantity of valproate. According to the method, the concentration of valproate in serum or other physiologic liquid can be measured easily and quickly with high reproducibility.
