PURPOSE:The titled reactive high-molecular compound useful in the production of radioactive metal-labeled radiodiagnostic agents, such as an agent for diagnosing thrombosis, prepared by condensing the aldehyde groups of a dialdehydostarch with a bifunctional ligand compound having amino groups. CONSTITUTION:The aldehyde groups of a dialdehydostarch of formula I , obtained by oxidizing starch with an oxidizing agent such as a periodate, are condensed with at least two molecules, per molecule of the bifunctional molecule, of a bifunctional ligand compound containing amino groups (e.g., deferoxamine or ethylenediaminetriacetic acid) to form the purpose reactive high-molecular compound of formula II (wherein X is an amino group reaction residue of the bifunctional ligand compound, k, l, m, and n are each 0-1,000, and k+l+m+ n=2-1,000). The high-molecular compound thus obtained has numerous ligands in one molecule and is therefore able to produce radiodiagnostic agents of high specific activity by using the high-molecular compound as a raw material.
